Cascade Springs

We went up to Cascade Springs this week. Fall is a great time to drive up the canyon and see the beautiful colors but I didn't get to appreciate it much because I got really sick. The springs were pretty cool and definitely unique. The hiking was easy.  The temperature was perfect.  And the colors really were beautiful.  Definitely a place everyone should check out but take some motion sickness medication first if you're like me because that canyon was super windey.

Conference Weekend

I love watching General Conference.  It's so inspiring and uplifting and really helps me get through the next six months.  I want to help my boys develop a love for conference as well rather than dreading it like many young children do.  Because really, what kid wants to sit and listen to old guys talk for 8 hours?  I've had plans to start this new tradition for a long time but wanted to wait until Morgan was old enough to appreciate it.  Like in the days of King Benjamin when the people set up their tents and listened to their prophet from their tent, we're going to have the tradition of watching conference in our tent in the living room.  I hope it will be fun enough that the boys look forward to and get excited about conference rather than looking at it as something they have to do but don't really want to.  We may add other camping type activities to the weekend as the years go on, like cooking all our food outside for the weekend, sleeping in the tent, etc.  We've only had one session so far and it seemed to go really well.  The boys brought a bunch of toys and coloring books in the tent and I actually got to listen and take notes with minimal interruption.  So far, I think this new tradition is a success.

"And they pitched their tents round about the temple, every man having his tent with the door thereof towards the temple, that thereby they might remain in their tents and hear the words which king Benjamin should speak unto them;"  Mosiah 2:6
