Some thoughts on election day...

I love America but my America seems to be drifting away and it saddens me.  America is about being the best version of yourself that you can be.  It's about meeting challenges head on and rising above them. It's about each individual person being whoever they want to be and, as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others, living their life in whatever manner they choose.  The Left and the Right may have different opinions on how to accomplish those things but the fundamental principles that make America what it is should always be at the core and remain intact.

The move toward socialism by our government leaders makes me sick to my stomach.  Socialism has never worked anywhere in the world at any time in history. It degrades the individual. It turns people into the mediocre version of themselves.  It only tears down and destroys.  It punishes people for being successful so, in turn, people stop striving to be successful. It rewards people for being lazy and incompetent so people become more lazy and more incompetent.  Socialism isn't good for anyone. Even those who think they benefit greatly (ie those living off the government) are done a disservice because they don't grow or progress as human beings.  Everyone is hurt.

I also don't like that our government leaders don't seem to care what the people want.  Their whole purpose is to represent and serve the people, not to serve their own personal agenda. It is frightening how they have blatantly disregarded the voice of the people.  Sure, there are minority groups that support what they're doing but the majority of the people (as shown by poll after poll after poll) don't want  it and they just don't care.  What is America if you take out By The People and For the People?  How long until we turn into a dictatorship?

This isn't about Republicans vs Democrats.  There aren't quite as many Republicans on the socialism bandwagon as Democrats but there are still a startling number. The politicians in this country, on both sides, have become incredibly elitist. They believe we're too stupid to know what's best for us so they'll just force us to do what they, in their all-knowing wisdom, know is best for us.  It is truly frightening.

I hope and pray The People get out and vote today.  I hope and pray there are candiates out there, on either side of the isle, that will stop this madness.  I hope and pray our country can turn back around, get back to the constitution, stop taking away more and more of our rights, stop raising taxes and making it impossible to be prosperous and successful and restore the America I love so much.  May God be with us on election day.
